Fake Church Testimony Lands Woman in Court
By Ricky Awodi
Enugu, Nigeria – A 32-year-old woman, Loveth Alo, has been arraigned before the Enugu North Magisterial District Court after allegedly giving a fake testimony in a Lagos church, falsely claiming ownership of a luxury property.
The Enugu State Police Command confirmed Alo’s arrest in a statement on Tuesday, with its spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, revealing that she was apprehended on February 1 and later confessed to the crime.
According to the police, Alo acted alone in fabricating the testimony, which went viral after she publicly declared at the Zion Prayer Ministry Movement Outreach in Lagos that she had purchased a five-bedroom duplex at WTC Estate, Enugu, for ₦200 million. Video footage of the building was displayed in the church as she gave her testimony, misleading the congregation and online viewers.

Following a petition against her, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department’s (SCID) legal section launched an investigation, leading to her arrest. She was subsequently arraigned on a five-count charge, including:
Obtaining by false pretence with intent to defraud
Defamation of character
Attempting to commit a felony
The suspect was granted bail, with the court adjourning the case to April 9, 2025, for further hearing.
Authorities have urged the public to verify claims before sharing or endorsing them, especially on social media, as misinformation and fraud continue to pose challenges in religious and social settings.
