Naira Marley Calls for Coroner Investigation into Mohbad’s Wife and Others
Naira Marley Testifies in Coroner’s Court
Nigerian singer Abdulazeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has urged the coroner’s court to thoroughly investigate Omowunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad), and 14 others who were present at his residence 48 to 72 hours before his passing.
During a virtual testimony before Ms. T.A. Shotobi at the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Naira Marley, through his lawyer Olusola Okuwobi, emphasized that he was out of the country at the time of Mohbad’s death and had no hostility toward the late singer.
Naira Marley Denies Involvement in Mohbad’s Death
In his testimony, Naira Marley detailed his past contract with Mohbad, stating that he had no issues with the singer before his tragic passing. He urged the court to look beyond social media narratives and the suspects presented by the police, instead focusing on those who were physically present at Mohbad’s house in his final days.
> “At the time of Mohbad’s unfortunate death, I was not in the country. I had no animosity toward him, and I urge the coroner to interrogate those present at his home in the last 48-72 hours,” Naira Marley stated.

Accusations of Cover-Up
Naira Marley’s lawyer also claimed that individuals present at Mohbad’s residence attempted to manipulate public perception by sharing an old video of the deceased. According to him, Mohbad had already apologized for the video and was forgiven before leaving his record label.
This testimony follows that of the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad before his death, further deepening the mystery surrounding his sudden demise.
Calls for a Fresh Investigation
A group known as The Concerned Nigeria Citizens in Diaspora has also demanded that the police re-investigate the case, including questioning Omowunmi and Mohbad’s brother, Adura Aloba. The group, through its spokesperson Victoria Janolewsky-Peters, insists that a thorough homicide investigation is necessary to uncover the truth.
> “We urge the Nigerian Police Force to re-examine this case, considering Naira Marley’s testimony under oath. Those present at Mohbad’s house, including his wife and brother, should be questioned thoroughly,” the statement read.
Mohbad’s Death and Ongoing Legal Battles
Mohbad, who tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, left behind a trail of controversy and unanswered questions. His father has also taken legal action, requesting the court to overturn the legal advice that previously cleared Naira Marley of involvement.
The unfolding case continues to spark public interest, with many hoping for a transparent and conclusive investigation into the singer’s death.

Conclusion
As Naira Marley shifts focus to Mohbad’s immediate circle, pressure mounts on authorities to conduct a comprehensive probe into the events leading to his passing. Whether these fresh calls for investigation will lead to new revelations remains to be seen.
