Major Drug Bust: Prominent Nigerian Students Arrested in Delhi
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of India, in collaboration with the Delhi Police, has made a significant breakthrough in drug trafficking by dismantling a drug cartel operating in the Chattarpur area. Five individuals, including four foreign students from a prominent Nigerian family, were apprehended, and a staggering cache of narcotics, including MDMA, top-tier crystal meth, and Afghan heroin, was seized, amounting to an estimated ₹27 crore.
## Details of the Operation
On March 31, 2025, the NCB and the Special Cell of Delhi Police executed a well-coordinated raid following intelligence regarding high-grade methamphetamine dealings in the Chattarpur neighborhood. The operation led to the interception of a vehicle transporting 5.103 kg of crystal methamphetamine valued at around ₹10.2 crore.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended the relentless efforts of the agencies, asserting, “Our relentless hunt against the illicit trade continues.”
### Tracing the Origins of the Drugs
Further investigation revealed that the source of the drugs was linked to a rented accommodation occupied by an African national, where MDMA was being synthesized. Investigators identified an ‘African Kitchen’ in Tilak Nagar, West Delhi, as the focal point of operations, where agents recovered:
– 1.156 kg of crystal methamphetamine
– 4.142 kg of Afghan heroin
– 5.776 kg of MDMA (Ecstasy pills)
Additionally, a follow-up search at a rented apartment in Greater Noida yielded 389 grams of Afghan heroin and 26 grams of cocaine, raising concerns about the extent of the operation.
### The Students and Their Activities
Authorities reported that the accused individuals are students enrolled in private universities across the National Capital Region (NCR) and Punjab. There are indications that, alongside their involvement in drug trade, they may also be engaged in cryptocurrency activities, hinting at a more complex network of illicit operations.

The Narcotics Control Bureau has reported a significant breakthrough in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking with the arrest of several prominent Nigerian students in Delhi. The suspects were apprehended following a coordinated operation that spanned multiple locations across the city. The Bureau’s swift action underscores the government’s commitment to combating the illicit drug trade and upholding the rule of law.
This major bust underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in tackling drug trafficking and highlights the need for continued vigilance in combating such activities in the region.
