It’s a sad day for fans of classic television and heartfelt laughter. George Wendt, the man who brought the lovable Norm Peterson to life on Cheers, has passed away.
He died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. He was 76.
The news came from his longtime publicist, Melissa Nathan, in a touching statement. “Beloved actor and comedian, George Wendt, known for starring in the NBC hit comedy Cheers, has passed away. He will be missed forever.”
