Kogi Road Accident: 18 Dead, 8 Injured

A devastating accident on the Gada Biyu–Apata Road in Kogi State has left at least 18 people dead and eight others injured, sending shockwaves through the region.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. on Sunday and involved a Dangote trailer and a Toyota Hiace bus, both reportedly heading from Ondo State to Zamfara State. The collision was so intense that both vehicles burst into flames almost instantly.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared details of the incident on Monday, 17 of the victims were burnt beyond recognition. It’s a heartbreaking scene that emergency responders are still trying to process.

While the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, eyewitnesses suspect speeding and brake failure may have played a role.

Thankfully, eight people survived and were rushed to Fisayo Hospital in Obajana, where they’re currently receiving treatment. Officials say they are responding well, but full details about their conditions haven’t been released.
