75-Year-Old Edo Pilgrim Dies During Hajj in Saudi Arabia
Adizatu Dazumi, a 75-year-old pilgrim from Jattu Uzairue in Edo State’s Etsako West Local Government, set out on the spiritual voyage of a lifetime — the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia. What began as a sacred mission of faith ended as her final, eternal journey in the holy city of Makkah.
Dazumi had successfully completed the revered Tawaaf — circling the Kaaba in solemn devotion — when fate intervened. Shortly afterward, she took ill and was rushed to the King Fahad General Hospital. Despite medical efforts, she passed away on Monday, surrounded not by fear, but by the sanctity of one of Islam’s most sacred locations.
The Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Musah Uduimoh, confirmed the news with a tone of reverence. “She was buried in Makkah the same day, in accordance with Islamic rites. Her family in Jattu Uzairue has been informed, and we extend our deepest condolences.”
For many, the Hajj is the pinnacle of spiritual accomplishment. For Adizatu Dazumi, it became the culmination of a life of faith — an exit from this world at the gates of divine presence. Her passing, though sudden, echoes a deeply spiritual honor: to die in the holy land, amidst millions gathered for one of the five pillars of Islam.
