Land Dispute Turns Viral: Patience Ozokwo Breaks Silence, Threatens Legal Action

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo, popularly known as Mama G, has responded sharply to allegations by a widow and her daughter who accused her of illegally acquiring their family land—a claim that has stirred online debates and media attention.
The controversy ignited after a video went viral showing the widow and her daughter alleging that Ozokwo took over a piece of land left to them by their deceased husband and father. According to them, the land was sold to Ozokwo by an uncle without their consent, despite their claim of still possessing valid ownership documents.
But in a statement issued on Tuesday, June 3, the Nollywood icon dismissed the allegations as false and damaging, clarifying that she legally acquired the land in question over a decade ago, in 2010.
“The man who owned the land contacted my real estate agent about selling it. Everything was done by the books,” Ozokwo explained. She noted that the dispute only began this year, when the original seller allegedly tried to resell part of the already purchased property.
“I was informed of the situation, visited the site, and secured the property with a fence. Next thing, I’m seeing these online videos accusing me of grabbing land from a grieving family,” she recounted.
Ozokwo didn’t mince words in describing the allegations as “blackmail, deceit, and defamation.” She added that the attack on her character was deeply hurtful and undeserved, especially after a long career marked by integrity.
“I value my name and everything I’ve worked for,” she said. “This matter will be addressed in court. It’s sad that some bloggers chose sensationalism over truth.”

As the drama unfolds, clips from both sides continue to circulate widely on social media, drawing mixed reactions from fans and the public. While some express sympathy for the widow and her daughter, others defend Ozokwo, urging due process.
For now, one thing is clear: Mama G is not backing down—and the next act of this unfolding drama is headed to the courtroom.
