Tinubu Forgives Sanwo-Olu, Says “All Is Forgiven” in Dramatic Lagos Reconciliation

President Bola Tinubu has publicly declared that he is no longer angry with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, telling the governor on Sunday that “all his sins” have been forgiven.
The reconciliation came during a meeting with members of the Lagos Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), who had gathered to plead on Sanwo-Olu’s behalf and on behalf of others believed to have drawn the president’s ire.
The president, who was in Lagos for a visit, was welcomed by the GAC Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, who acknowledged Tinubu’s recent displeasure with certain individuals in the state, especially the governor. In a rare public appeal, Olusi implored Tinubu to let go of any lingering grievances.
Multiple sources at the closed-door meeting said Tinubu responded with a conciliatory tone. “It’s all over now. All is forgiven,” the president reportedly said, easing the tension in the room and reassuring those present that his anger had passed.
In a symbolic gesture of remorse and deference, Sanwo-Olu and other council members prostrated before Tinubu—a move deeply rooted in Yoruba culture, signifying respect and a plea for forgiveness.
Although the specific cause of the rift was not discussed during the meeting, insiders told THISDAY that the gathering was strictly focused on seeking the president’s pardon, not reliving the past.

The development marks a significant political moment in Lagos, reaffirming Tinubu’s enduring influence in the state he once governed, and possibly resetting the tone for future engagements between the presidency and the Lagos State government.
