In a swift and coordinated operation, law enforcement officers in South Africa apprehended two female armed robbers and their three male accomplices following a robbery in Johannesburg’s Orange Grove.

The suspects were arrested on the morning of Sunday, March 2, 2025, after a victim alerted officers at a BP filling station on Louis Botha Avenue. He reported being robbed by five individuals in a red Volkswagen Jetta at the intersection of 7th Street and Louis Botha Avenue. The criminals not only stole his money and cellphones but also transferred funds from his bank account.

Acting on the victim’s tip, officers from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), South African Police Service (SAPS), and private security launched an operation. With support from JMPD CCTV and Tactical Response Units (TRU), they tracked the suspect vehicle to a Pick ‘n Pay outlet in Bramley View.

The coordinated effort led to the successful arrest of all five suspects inside the shopping mall, with the victim’s stolen items recovered. The suspects are now in police custody at Norwood SAPS and face charges of robbery and possession of stolen property.

They are expected to appear in court soon.
