Asake Responds to Allegations of Neglect by Father

Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has broken his silence over accusations of abandonment made by a man, Fatai Odunsi, who claims to be his biological father.
Odunsi, in a now-viral video, alleged that he has been suffering from a stroke since 2022 and that Asake has repeatedly ignored his calls despite his worsening condition. His claims have sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians calling on the singer to take responsibility for his alleged father’s welfare.
In response, Asake took to social media on Friday, using music to deliver a cryptic message. Singing in Yoruba, he said:
“You can’t please everyone, you can’t please the world. But anything you are doing, just do it for God.
My own father wants to cajole me, and I have sent so much money. I have struggled for so many years, but they want to make life tire me.”
The statement, though indirect, suggests that the singer believes he has already provided financial support but is being pressured for more.
Mixed Reactions Trail Asake’s Response
Despite Asake’s reaction, the controversy continues to stir debates on social media. While some fans have defended the singer, arguing that Odunsi may not have played a significant role in his life, others insist that family ties should not be broken regardless of past grievances.
One commenter, Fatai Saheed, wrote: “Go and take care of your father, no matter what he has done.”
Another added: “I will not let my father go hungry, sick, or homeless just because he didn’t take care of me. Go and take care of your father, Asake.”
Meanwhile, supporters of the artist argue that financial entitlement is a common challenge for celebrities, with many facing demands from estranged family members.
Asake, known for his hit songs and energetic performances, has yet to issue a formal statement beyond his musical response. However, as public interest in the matter grows, it remains to be seen whether he will address the accusations in clearer terms or take further action regarding Odunsi’s situation.
