Fuel Tanker Explodes Under Otedola Bridge, Lagos

A fuel tanker explosion rocked the Otedola Bridge area along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on the evening of March 11, sending fireballs into the air and causing widespread panic.

The 30-tonne DAF Gas Truck, whose registration number remains unknown, was navigating the busy expressway when it was involved in an accident. The crash resulted in a fiery explosion in front of a Redeemed Church, spreading flames to the church building, an adjoining bungalow, and four vehicles.

The inferno also affected several mechanic workshops nearby, worsening the destruction. However, emergency responders, including officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), are working to extinguish the fire and restore normalcy.

As of press time, no casualties have been reported. The exact cause of the accident remains unclear, but authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the incident.
