Gunshots Disrupt Pro-Wike Rally in Bayelsa as Supporters Regroup

Tension gripped Yenagoa on Saturday after gunshots rang out during a mega rally organized by NEW Associates, a political group loyal to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The event, led by George Turnah, a prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) figure in Bayelsa State, had drawn large crowds when chaos erupted. Witnesses reported sudden gunfire near the rally grounds, forcing many attendees to flee for safety.

Security operatives swiftly moved in to restore order, and no casualties have been officially confirmed at the time of filing this report.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the incident, the Secretary of NEW Associates in Bayelsa, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe, assured that the group remained undeterred.

> “The rally must continue. Our resolve remains unshaken,” Ekerefe declared.

By mid-afternoon, supporters had regrouped, vowing to press on with the rally despite the disruption.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the shooting or identify any suspects.

Parrot Newspaper will continue to monitor developments as the situation unfolds.
