Hacked or Busted? – Akpabio Aide in Hot Seat Over Vanished Natasha Post

A cryptic message. A suspicious deletion. And a political adviser scrambling for cover.

Ken Okolugbo, the Communications Adviser to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, is under intense scrutiny after a now-deleted post from his verified X (formerly Twitter) account appeared to reference Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan — in what many interpreted as a public apology or thinly veiled admission.

The post didn’t last long — just over an hour — but that was more than enough time for users to screenshot, share, and speculate.

Now, a civic group, The Action Collective, is demanding answers.

“This wasn’t just a tweet. It looked like a confession. And then it disappeared,” said Mr. Teddy Onyejuwe, National Coordinator of the group. “If Mr. Okolugbo’s account was hacked, we need verifiable proof — not just a claim. Nigerians deserve clarity, not cover-ups.”

The controversy erupted after the deleted post — widely circulated before it vanished — seemed to address the ongoing political tension surrounding Senator Natasha, one of the most vocal and scrutinized figures in the National Assembly. While the exact content of the post hasn’t been officially confirmed, those who saw it described it as remorseful and possibly indictive.

Shortly after the post vanished, Okolugbo disowned it and claimed his account had been “compromised.” But that explanation, critics say, raises more questions than answers.

“Hacked or busted — which is it?” Onyejuwe asked pointedly. “If this was truly a cyber breach, there should be a full digital trail: timestamps, recovery logs, even a police report. Until that happens, the public has every right to question the narrative.”

The group also raised concern about the growing trend of political aides citing ‘hacks’ whenever controversial content surfaces. “The ‘I was hacked’ excuse is starting to wear thin,” Onyejuwe said. “Public officials cannot use it as a shield to dodge accountability.”

Behind the scenes, some insiders suggest the post may have been part of internal wrangling within Akpabio’s media team — a possible slip-up that revealed more than intended. Others aren’t ruling out a genuine cyber breach. Either way, the silence from official quarters is only fanning the flames.

The Action Collective isn’t stopping at statements. The group says it plans to formally petition the Senate Committee on Ethics and Public Petitions to look into the matter, citing digital integrity and public trust as key concerns.

Meanwhile, support continues to pour in for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, with her allies calling for an end to political games and veiled attacks. “We’ve seen this playbook before — leak, delete, deny,” said one source close to the senator. “It’s old. Nigerians are smarter now.”

As the dust refuses to settle, one thing is clear: whether it was a breach or a blunder, the public wants the truth — not excuses. And until that truth comes out, the question remains:
