Ikeja Military Cantonment Renamed After Late COAS T. A. Lagbaja

The Nigerian Army has officially renamed the Ikeja Military Cantonment in Lagos as T. A. Lagbaja Cantonment in honor of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.

The renaming ceremony was attended by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Christopher Musa, and other top military officials, reflecting the nation’s recognition of Lagbaja’s contributions to the armed forces.

Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja, who passed away on November 5, 2024, was appointed COAS on June 19, 2023, by President Bola Tinubu. His distinguished military career began in 1987 when he enrolled at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). Over the years, he steadily rose through the ranks, earning a reputation for professionalism and dedication until he became the country’s top army officer.

The renaming of the cantonment serves as a lasting tribute to his legacy, ensuring that his service to the nation is remembered by future generations.
