Uromi Killings : Kaduna Police Officer Threatens Reprisal Attack
Rising Tensions: Kaduna Police Officer’s Threat Sparks Outrage
A Kaduna State police officer, Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, has ignited a firestorm after openly threatening reprisal attacks on southerners residing in northern Nigeria. His comments came in response to the brutal killing of 16 northerners in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
A Dangerous Declaration on Social Media
In a now-restricted Facebook comment on Tuesday, Dan-Taki swore by Almighty God, vowing that northerners would take action against southerners in retaliation for the Uromi killings. He wrote:
> “I swear to Almighty God, we must do something for you guys, have you forgotten all your brothers that are living here in the North? Mark my words, after one week you shall see the result.”

This inflammatory statement, coming from a law enforcement officer, has raised serious concerns about security, ethnic tensions, and the impartiality of the Nigerian police force.
Public Backlash and Police Response
As the post gained traction online, Dan-Taki attempted to evade scrutiny by changing his first name and restricting access to his Facebook page. However, the damage had already been done.

A concerned X (formerly Twitter) user, @UcheDIgboezeson, took immediate action, sharing a screenshot of the comment and tagging Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) Olumuyiwa Adejobi with the message:
> “#Princemoye1, take care of this sir.”
Adejobi swiftly acknowledged the post, responding:
> “Noted for necessary action. Thanks.”
This indicates that the Nigerian Police Force is aware of the situation and may take disciplinary action against the officer.
The Bigger Picture: Ethnic Strife and Law Enforcement’s Role
The Dan-Taki’s threats have caught many news media attention including parrot newspaper and punch which has reignited discussions on ethnic conflicts in Nigeria. While attacks on any ethnic group are condemnable, the expectation is that law enforcement officers should de-escalate tensions, not inflame them.
Security experts and civil society organizations have called for a thorough investigation, not just into Dan-Taki’s conduct but also into the Uromi killings, urging authorities to ensure justice is served without bias.
What Next? Ensuring Accountability and Justice
With Adejobi’s acknowledgment of the issue, all eyes are now on the Nigerian Police Force. Will they discipline Dan-Taki for his reckless statement? Will they expedite justice for the victims of the Uromi attack? These are questions demanding immediate answers.
As Nigeria grapples with ethnic tensions, one thing remains clear: law enforcement officers must uphold peace and remain neutral, or risk deepening the nation’s divides.

And someone will tell you we’re one Nigeria
We await any disciplinary actions from the authority
We should all stand up in one voice to condemn this unguided statement
This is uncalled for
Authority will treat his fuckup in a jiffy
What’s surprising me most is he has forgotten how many northerners his people have killed
He is most cruel officer in history
