Kwara Police Arrest Portable Over Osupa Feud
By Ricky Awodi
In what seems like a brewing storm finally breaking, controversial street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, better known as Portable, has found himself behind bars after a heated public clash with renowned Yoruba Fuji maestro, Mr. Okunola Saheed — popularly called Osupa.
The arrest, confirmed by the Kwara State Police Command on Sunday, stems from heavy allegations ranging from criminal defamation to threat to life, incitement, and character assassination. Put simply, things got way too personal, and now Portable is answering to the law.

According to SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer, it all started with a formal complaint from Osupa himself. He accused Portable of using unprintable words, inciting public unrest, and generally dragging his name through the mud in ways that could spark serious trouble.
“The petition borders on serious allegations, including criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace,” the statement from the police read.
With evidence in hand, the Command wasted no time securing an arrest warrant from the Magistrate Court in Ilorin. Without missing a beat, Kwara State police operatives made their way to Abeokuta in Ogun State. By 7:25 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, Portable had been picked up and whisked straight to Ilorin for questioning.
Sources say once in Ilorin, Portable’s statement was taken under the watchful eyes of legal representatives from both camps. For now, he remains in custody, as arrangements are underway to swiftly charge him to court.
What’s behind this dramatic twist? Well, the bad blood between Portable and Osupa didn’t exactly happen overnight. Weeks of simmering tension had been playing out in the public eye, mostly on social media, where Portable reportedly unleashed a series of tirades filled with not-so-friendly words aimed at Osupa. Things escalated quickly from mere online banter to outright threats — pushing Osupa to seek legal intervention.

A source close to the matter revealed, “Osupa had no choice but to involve the authorities after repeated verbal attacks turned to threats. No one is above the law. This is a wake-up call for public figures to be mindful of their words and actions.”
Meanwhile, the police have called for calm, warning against wild speculation as the case unfolds.
“We remain committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served in a fair and transparent manner. We urge members of the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information,” SP Ejire-Adeyemi stated, promising that updates will be shared as things progress.
For now, all eyes remain on the courtrooms of Ilorin as Nigerians wait to see how this musical clash plays out in the legal arena.
