From Cheers to Shock: Lacazette’s House Burgled During His Final Game
Lacazette Shines in Farewell Match—Only to Return to News of a Home Burglary

What should’ve been a night of celebration for Alexandre Lacazette turned sour off the pitch.
The former Arsenal forward played his final match for Lyon on Saturday, marking his 391st appearance for the club—a true send-off moment. Fans showered him with love, and he delivered in style, scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over Angers. It was the perfect farewell, bringing his tally to over 200 goals for Lyon, the club where he rose from academy prospect to legend.
But while Lacazette was busy making memories on the pitch, something much darker was happening back home.
According to French outlet Le Progrès, Lacazette’s home was broken into during the game. The report claims two intruders accessed a safe, making off with jewellery, luxury leather items, and a stash of cash—altogether worth tens of thousands of pounds.
The break-in was reportedly discovered around 1:30am Sunday morning, after security footage captured two individuals at the property. Local police have since launched an investigation.
Sadly, Lacazette isn’t the only Lyon player to fall victim to such crimes. Just last December, teammate Georges Mikautadze was robbed at gunpoint—a chilling reminder of the risks high-profile athletes face, even in their own homes.
Lacazette, who spent five seasons at Arsenal before returning to Lyon, had already confirmed he would retire at the end of the season. Coach Paulo Fonseca recently made it official: Lacazette is leaving when his contract expires this summer.

So while the night ended with cheers and goals, it was also marked by an unsettling reminder that even legends aren’t immune to real-world troubles.
