Rage in Abia: Man Burns Wife, Children Alive Over Alleged Infidelity
Osisioma LGA, Abia State — A quiet morning in Asa Umudim community turned to tragedy when a 40-year-old man (name withheld) allegedly doused his home in petrol and set it ablaze, killing one of his daughters and leaving his wife and two other children fighting for their lives in an undisclosed hospital.
A Marriage Turned Deadly
Sources close to the investigation reveal that the suspect, now in police custody, accused his wife of infidelity—claiming she frequently received calls from men he believed were her lovers. The accusations escalated into a horrifying act of violence when he locked his family inside their home and ignited the fire.
Neighbors described scenes of chaos as flames engulfed the building. “We heard screams, but before anyone could intervene, the house was already burning,” a local resident told Parrot Newspaper under anonymity.

Angry villagers reportedly attempted to lynch the suspect before police intervention. Officers from the Abia State Command swiftly arrested the man, while the body of his deceased daughter was moved to a mortuary.
DSP Maureen Chinaka, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident to Parrot Newspaper, stating:
“Yes, the police are aware. Investigation is ongoing.”
