Miley Cyrus Reveals Having Reinke’s Edema
By Parrot Lifestyle Desk

American pop sensation Miley Cyrus has revealed she’s living with Reinke’s edema — a noncancerous vocal cord condition that causes swelling and can impact vocal tone and strength.

In a recent sit-down with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, the Flowers singer shared that while the condition is typically associated with vocal strain and heavy smoking, hers is mostly genetic.

“Drinking and smoking after shows in my early years didn’t help,” she admitted, “but my voice wasn’t damaged by those habits. This is just how I was made.”

Reinke’s edema occurs when fluid builds up in the vocal cords, often leading to a deeper, raspier voice. It’s a condition commonly found in singers and long-time smokers. Despite having a large polyp on her vocal cords, Miley says she has no intention of undergoing surgery.

“I have this large polyp on my cords, and I’m not willing to sever it ever,” she said, explaining that the procedure could risk altering the very voice that’s become her trademark.

For Miley, the condition isn’t a hindrance — it’s a part of her identity. Her raspy vocals have helped shape her sound and image, from her early Hannah Montana days to her chart-topping solo career.

In a world where artists often seek perfection, Cyrus’s embrace of her natural voice stands out — a powerful message of self-acceptance and authenticity.
