In a heartfelt testimony, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), shared a powerful account of a life-threatening experience that nearly claimed his life seven years ago during an evangelism programme in his church.
Recalling the harrowing incident, Pastor Adeboye revealed how he collapsed in Ilesha due to a severe health crisis exacerbated by the poor road conditions. Speaking during a church service, the renowned clergyman reflected on the physical toll it took on him, revealing that it was the first time in his life he had spent Christmas Day in bed, grappling with his condition.

“It was seven years ago during this same program that my body completely broke down due to the terrible road conditions,” Adeboye said. “For the first time in my life, I spent Christmas in bed. The devil thought he had finally gotten me.”
The pastor continued, sharing how he was airlifted to the RCCG camp after his collapse in Ilesha, but not without additional challenges. He explained that an attempt to stop the helicopter from taking off led to damage of one of its windows, making the situation even more dire.
Despite the hardships, Pastor Adeboye expressed immense gratitude for his survival, telling his congregation, “I was too weak to travel by road – had I attempted it, I wouldn’t have made it. Seven years later, here I am! I want to thank God for sparing my life.”
His emotional testimony was met with applause as the congregation joined him in praising God for his miraculous recovery and for the gift of life.
