Portable Escapes Re-Arrest After Release: Osupa Withdraws Petition
Ilorin, Nigeria – April 16, 2025

Controversial Nigerian singer Badmus Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has once again wriggled out of police grip—this time, thanks to the magnanimity of fuji music legend, Saheed Osupa.
Just a day after Portable was remanded at the Oke Kura Correctional Facility in Ilorin, he regained freedom—only to narrowly dodge another arrest over a different petition involving a failed concert deal.
Fuji Legend Saheed Osupa Pulls the Plug on Legal Action
On Monday, April 14, Portable was arraigned before a Kwara State Upper Area Court following a petition by Saheed Osupa. The charges were no light matter—ranging from criminal defamation and intimidation to cyberstalking and inciting public disturbance.
The charges stemmed from a heated Instagram Live session on March 19, 2025, during which Portable allegedly accused Osupa of jealousy and sabotage.
But by Tuesday morning, tides had turned.
In a surprising twist, Osupa’s lawyer, Opalekunde Ahmed, submitted a formal withdrawal of the case. According to him, “Stakeholders in the music industry and other notable personalities intervened and pleaded with our client for peace.”
While the case was dropped, Osupa issued a stern warning—Portable must desist from future defamatory utterances or risk legal firepower.
Re-Arrest Averted Over N6.3 Million Concert Controversy
As if one legal battle wasn’t enough, another storm was brewing.

The Managing Director of Starwood Hotels, Ilorin, Mr. Yemi George, had prepared to re-arrest Portable for allegedly collecting N6.3 million for a concert he failed to perform at. The event, “Kwara Tampan Fiesta,” was held on September 29, 2024.
According to George, Portable arrived 16 hours late, then “sneaked out of the hotel without stepping on stage.” The fallout? Financial loss, reputational damage, and a fresh petition titled: “Fraudulent Obtainment by False Pretence.”
But Osupa intervened—again.
In George’s words: “I had all the documents ready to re-arrest him. But out of deep respect for Osupa, I held back.”
Portable’s Legal Track Record: A Recurring Drama
This isn’t Portable’s first dance with the law.
February 2025: Declared wanted by Ogun Police for allegedly assaulting government officials at his Iyana Ilogbo bar.
May 2024: Arrested over a N27 million G-Wagon debt—a case that went viral after Portable attempted a dramatic escape by vaulting over a gate.
March 2023: Arrested for allegedly assaulting a man at his bar in Ogun. He was eventually arraigned and granted bail.
Portable’s rising fame seems matched only by his long and colorful rap sheet.
Will This Be Portable’s Last Legal Escape?
While Portable walks free—for now—many wonder how long this streak of “freedom by intervention” will last. The music industry, public figures, and even fans are calling for a change in attitude from the self-proclaimed “Wahala Musician.”
As Saheed Osupa’s camp advised: “Let this be the last.”
