Shocking Murder Rocks Ovbiogie Community
Tragedy has struck in Edo State as a man identified as Wealth Nnamdi, from Imo State, allegedly killed his pregnant fiancée and her six-year-old daughter just seven days before their wedding.
The incident occurred on March 23, 2025, at Idiagbonya Street in Ovbiogie, along the Benin-Lagos Expressway. The victims have been identified as Osasu Aimienoho Isaac, the bride-to-be, and her daughter, Aleluya Uwuigbe, from a previous relationship.
Couple’s Long-Term Relationship Ends in Tragedy
The couple had reportedly been in a relationship for over three years and were set to tie the knot on March 29, 2025. However, sources say frequent disputes marred their relationship.
According to reports, Wealth Nnamdi had moved in with Osasu and her daughter in an apartment where she also carried out petty trading. On the fateful night, an intense quarrel broke out between the couple.
Neighbours Dismissed the Argument as Usual
A source, who pleaded anonymity, revealed that neighbors were accustomed to the couple’s frequent quarrels and did not initially suspect anything unusual.
> “They always had disagreements, so we thought it was just another fight,” the source said.
However, the argument escalated into a deadly confrontation, with Nnamdi allegedly murdering Osasu and her daughter before fleeing the scene.
Odour from Locked Room Exposes the Crime
Following the gruesome act, the suspect reportedly locked the victims inside the room and fled to an unknown location. It was only after a foul odour began emanating from the apartment that neighbours became suspicious and alerted the police.
Law enforcement officers forced the door open and found the lifeless bodies of the pregnant woman and her daughter. They were subsequently taken to the mortuary.
Family Demands Justice
The mother of the deceased, Mrs. Esther Gabriel, is still in shock over the tragic loss of her daughter and granddaughter.
Meanwhile, the sister of the deceased has called on the police to track down the fugitive groom and bring him to justice.
Police Assure Swift Investigation
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, Moses Yamu, assured the public that the police would leave no stone unturned in bringing the suspect to justice.
> “We are on top of the situation and will get to the root of the matter,” Yamu stated.
Community in Mourning as Hunt for the Suspect Continues
The tragic incident has left the Ovbiogie community in shock, with residents expressing outrage and sorrow over the gruesome murder. As police intensify efforts to locate the suspect, questions remain about what triggered such a horrific act just days before what was meant to be a joyous occasion.
