The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has dismissed widespread Collapse rumor and being  flown abroad for urgent medical treatment. In a strong rebuttal, Wike described these claims as politically motivated falsehoods designed to mislead the public.

Wike Collapse Rumor: Minister Denies Health Scare, Labels Reports as Baseless

Speaking in Abuja while inspecting ongoing projects, Wike set the record straight:

> “I don’t want to give credence to people who are only interested in spreading rumors. First of all, I am a human being, not a ghost. If someone collapses, it is a human being that collapses, not a ghost. Unfortunately, I did not collapse. I didn’t show any signs of health problems.”

Wike Exposes Alleged Political Distraction Tactics

The Minister further explained that the rumors were part of a broader political strategy to divert attention from more pressing issues, particularly in Rivers State. He pointed to recent revelations from the former Head of Service of Rivers State, who disclosed alleged plans to bomb the House of Assembly complex and attack national assets. According to Wike, his supposed “collapse” was a fabricated story aimed at shifting focus away from these critical matters.

> “In order to divert attention from people focusing on that, they had to create a rumor that I had been flown overseas. There was never a time I collapsed. There was never a time anybody took me to the hospital.”

Wike Highlights His Continued Public Engagement

To further debunk the claims, Wike emphasized that he has remained actively involved in his ministerial duties. He cited recent public appearances, including leading Abuja residents to the Presidential Villa and participating in the President’s Iftar event during Ramadan.

Politically Motivated Attacks? Wike Responds

Accusing his political detractors of orchestrating the rumor, Wike dismissed the falsehoods as desperate attempts to create unnecessary panic. He delivered a sharp retort to those hoping to see him unwell, saying:

> “I will sign their condolences.”

With this statement, Wike made it clear that he remains in good health and fully committed to his role as FCT Minister, unfazed by attempts to undermine his leadership.

The Bigger Picture: Political Rumors and Public Distraction

The controversy surrounding Wike’s alleged collapse underscores a broader pattern in Nigerian politics, where misinformation is often used as a tool to manipulate public perception. As political tensions rise, particularly in Rivers State, narratives like these serve as a reminder of the need for fact-checking and critical analysis before accepting sensational claims.
